OHIO BEEF FARM VIRTUAL FIELD TRIPS

Take your class on a virtual field trip to an Ohio beef farm from the comfort of your own classroom or home! 

This one-of-a-kind learning experience, will turn Ohio classrooms and homes into virtual beef farms through the use of live video conferencing technology.

A total of four virtual field trips were offered throughout the fall of 2020, with three different types of trips available. Each trip was guided by farmers and beef experts and transported students live to a cow-calf farm, a seedstock farm and into a meat science laboratory, where animals are harvested and fabricated into edible cuts. These trips shared how beef cattle are raised, cared for and provided in Ohio. Students also were able to chat directly with farmers and experts during live Q&A sessions.

Each trip is was recorded so that classrooms or students at home not able to participate in the live virtual field trips can watch a trip on-demand.

Beef in the classroom Grant Program

Thanks to Ohio's cattle farmers, a Beef in the Classroom grant program was designed for Family and Consumer Science teachers or ProStart instructors. If you and your students will be preparing beef products, this program could provide financial support for your lesson.
