Genetics Discussion & Farm Tour

Visit Maplecrest Farms in Hillsboro, Ohio virtually!


During this LIVE tour participants will: 

  • Learn how Maplecrest Farms produces a high-quality breeding stock
  • Discuss tools such as phenotypic evaluation, live animal and carcass data collection, genomic testing, and EPDs and indexes to learn how Maplecrest works to produce improved seedstock.
  • Understand how data and technology is utilized to identify superior genetics, as well as defects.
  • Be able to ask questions to be answered live during the tour by beef farmer and breeder, John Grimes of Maplecrest Farms
NOTE: Please be advised that this Virtual Field Trip will discuss in detail and contain visuals related to the reproduction process, as well as various practices associated with artificially breeding cattle.


This trip is available to watch two ways so that students can participate whether they are in the classroom or learning remotely at home.
