Investing in programs that build beef demand to keep beef top-of-mind for consumers Through the Producer Communications program, a small percentage of Beef Checkoff dollars are utilized to communicate to beef producers about how their dollars are being used throughout the Beef Checkoff program locally and nationally. This includes the use of dollars in promotion, research, consumer information, industry information, and foreign marketing.

FUELING THE OSU 4 MILER
The Ohio Beef Council (OBC) proudly served as a presenting sponsor of the Ohio State University 4 Miler, connecting with thousands of runners and spectators on race day. Attendees stopped by the Ohio Beef Council exhibit to fuel and recover with beef jerky, while gathering beef recipes and nutrition information highlighting how beef supports active lifestyles. In addition, 12,000 Well Balanced with Beef recipe cards were included in all race day packets, extending the beef nutrition message beyond the finish line.
CUTTING THROUGH FOOD LABEL CONFUSION
With labels like grass-fed and non-GMO filling the meat case, consumers can easily feel overwhelmed by “food noise.” In a recent interview with WDTN, Anna Gest, MS, RDN, LD, with OBC, explained that research shows no significant nutritional difference between grass-fed and grain-finished beef, and that beef itself is not genetically modified— making some labels confusing or misleading. This science-based outreach helps consumers shop with confidence and reinforces beef as a nutritious, trustworthy choice.
E-COMMERCE EFFORTS DELIVER MILLIONS IN BEEF SALES FOR OHIO
In partnership with the Beef Checkoff, the Ohio Beef Council extended two national Beef. It’s What’s for Dinner. e-commerce campaigns statewide throughout 2025, bringing high-impact, consumer-focused messaging directly to Ohio shoppers. By collaborating with national retail partners, the campaigns connected consumers with beef at the point of purchase, driving measurable sales and reinforcing beef’s value and versatility.

The Ohio Beef Council partnered with Chef Rocco Whalen of Cleveland’s renowned Fahrenheit to spotlight the Eat Beef Ohio Passport program.
