Carne Asada Fries

These loaded carne asada fries are the snack that eats like a meal! French fries are loaded with grilled, seasoned beef, vegetables, guacamole, and salsa! Bring your appetite, these fries are too good to resist!

ingredients

For the Steak:
  • 1 ½ lbs flat iron steak 
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil 
  • 1 teaspoon cumin 
  • 1 teaspoon oregano 
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons chili powder 
  • 1 teaspoon paprika 
  • ½ teaspoon cayenne pepper 
  • ¾ teaspoon salt 
For the Cheese Sauce:
  • 1/4 cup cubed processed cheese 
  • 2-3 tablespoons milk 
Additional Ingredients:
  • 1 large package frozen french fries 
  • 1/2 cup corn 
  • 2 Roma tomatoes, diced 
  • 2 tablespoons chopped red onions 
  • 2 tablespoons crumbled queso fresco

cooking

  1. Prepare french fries according to package directions. 
  2. Preheat an outdoor grill to medium heat. 
  3. Rub steak with olive oil. Combine spices in a small bowl and rub over the beef. 
  4. Grill beef for 5-7 minutes per side or until desired degree of doneness. 135 degrees for medium rare and 145 for medium. 
  5. Remove steak and allow it to rest for 5 minutes before cutting steak into bite sized pieces. 
  6. While steak cooks, prepare cheese sauce. 
  7. Combine the cheese and the milk in a small saucepan over medium low heat. Whisk until melted and smooth. Keep warm. 
  8. Arrange cooked fries on a platter. Drizzle fries with cheese sauce. Top the fries with the steak, corn, tomatoes, onions and guacamole. Sprinkle with Queso fresco. 
  9. Serve immediately.
