  OHIO BEEF STATISTICS
  • Ohio has 1.27 million head of cattle and calves, with a total value of $1.3 billion dollars and produces nearly 500 million pounds of beef each year. 
  • There are 15,000 beef farms in Ohio with 292,000 cows ranking it 16th in the number of beef operations.
  • Estimated gross receipts - $401.7 million.
  • The beef cattle industry generates nearly $745 million in total production impact for the State of Ohio.

PRODUCER INFORMATION
The structure of the Beef Checkoff Program is based on the following directives:
  • All producers and importers pay the same $1 per head.
  • Producers in the state control one half of the money collected by state beef councils.
  • All national checkoff-funded programs are budgeted and evaluated by the Beef Board.
  • Beef Board members are nominated by fellow beef producers.
